Sailing Wanganui - Learn to Sail

Sailing Wanganui runs Sail Training for all ages commencing October and running through to December each year.  This training is called the Green Fleet program.

Starting at 10am and running for approximately two hours this training would normally be held at the Clubs training Facility at Pauri Lake.

Boats and Safety Equipment will be supplied.

The Trainee will learn in a suitable Club supplied  boat and will be given a log book to complete, by the end of the coarse the trainee will understand basic sailing, rope work and sailing theory.

Minimum age for juniors is eight years old, although dispensation can be obtained from the instructor if they feel the person is able to control a boat, there is no maximum age.

For juniors we request a parent or guardian remain during the lesson, this is a safety issue and also allows parents the opportunity to assist in the course, meet other families and learn about the club.

Trainees need to have warm clothes to wear while on the water a change of clothes for after,  they will get wet and even on a warm day wind chill is an issue. Life Jackets will be supplied.

There is no extra fee apart from the normal club membership for the training.

You will have fun and enjoy being on the water in control of your  boat, there is nothing like it
