Ratings Explained

In Sailing Wanganui a number of events are run that involve all classes starting in a series of races, and results calculated using the ratings published on this page.

The observant will recognise similarities between various systems published by YNZ, NZTYA and possibly a few others including RYA, US and Victorian systems.

However in the real world none of these suit mixed fleet racing to the extent that it can be used by this club. In the case of the NYZ and NZTYA systems they are not updated and have no cross reverence points that allow say a laser to race against a Farr 6000.

They should not be used in isolation to support the adjustment of a rating for a class mentioned in the list against one that is not.
